Virginia PostGrad Academy is hard at work in preparation for the 2021-22 season with the goal of providing student-athletes with the opportunity to pursue their dreams of playing college basketball.

Reasons to take a postgrad or "gap" year:

  • Covid-19 has prevented many players from having full AAU and high school seasons, limiting strength and skill development, and exposure to college coaches.

  • Recent NCAA changes allow an extra year of eligibility for some current college athletes impacted by Covid, limiting the number of availability roster spots available to high school seniors in the Class of 2021

  • Use the gap year to enhance skills, improve strength, and continue to build an academic profile, taking online college classes, high school repeat courses, or SAT/ACT prep class, if necessary

  • Gain additonal exposure through a competitive postgrad game schedule

Reasons to play at Virginia PostGrad Academy:

  • Skill training with Evolution Basketball, the premier skills training organization in the DMV.  Evolution has developed over 250 student-athletes for collegiate-level play.

  • Strength training rovided by Strength Training Manager, Donny Smith

  •  State-of-the-art facilities at the CYA Fieldhouse in Chantilly, Virginia

  • Quality coaching from a long-time high school coach and committed staff

  • VPA partners with StudentRoomStay Concierge (SRS Concierge), the premier housing resource for international students studying in the USA, to provide out-of-area student athletes with outstanding housing options with host families.

VPA will look to put players in the best position to get exposure at practices, skill workouts, and games. Virginia PostGrad and Evolution Basketball staff have a vast network of college and scouting service contacts. In addition to the contacts of Alex Harris and the Evolution staff,  Coach Doyle has interacted with college coaches throughout his career, Coach Martinez has a wide network of college coaches and international contacts, and Coach Jennings has quickly established himself with his relentless work ethic in reaching out to college coaches throughout Virginia and the mid-Atlantic region.
